Gippsland company recognised as Australia’s best

Aussie Broadband Managing Director Phillip Britt accepting the telco industry Edison award 2018

Gippsland-based Aussie Broadband has been recognised as Australia’s best broadband provider at the telco industry Edison Awards in Sydney.

The awards, run by CommsDay, were judged by a panel of 17 industry experts.  Aussie Broadband was up against other nominees in the category including Optus, TPG and Telstra.

Managing Director Phillip Britt said that Aussie Broadband was recognised by the judges as being the only internet service provider outside the “Big Four” to build interconnect to all NBN regions across Australia.

“The award also recognised that we have dramatically grown our market share and customer rating scores over the past 12 months,” he said. “We are now the fifth largest company in Australia putting on NBN services.”

Phil said that a number of initiatives have contributed to the company’s growth, including no contracts, 150 and 250 speed tier plans, and automated systems that can churn existing NBN customers across to Aussie in as little as 15 minutes.

“We’ve also introduced a comprehensive communications program for outages and we specifically manage our network to avoid congestion – including publishing daily graphs for every region so people can see what bandwidth headroom we have available.”

Phil said he believed much of the company’s success can be pinned down to its values of being good to people, and no bull, which are very much a reflection of the Gippsland region.

“We started in a lounge room in Morwell nearly 15 years ago, and now we are a major employer in the region with more than 130 staff,” he said.

“This award wouldn’t be possible without our staff.  They’ve been working so hard over the last 12 months to deliver great service to customers right across Australia, and they’ve been doing a superb job.  This award belongs to them.”
