Aussie Broadband at the 2021 pause awards

Aussie Broadband is delighted to announce that it has won its first international award at the 2021 Pause Awards in the ‘Hammer Award’ category.

While being largely comprised of Australian companies this year, the Pause Awards are an international award that is a part of Pause Fest, the world’s leading festival for business and creativity.

The judges praised Aussie Broadband for its “very strong entry and success story” and for “taking it to the big end of town and winning.”

“Aussie Broadband is a great business, amazing service and very innovative local telco,” said Pause Awards Founder & CEO George Hedon.

The Hammer Award recognises companies that build success on their own terms in the market and that hammer away at their success.

Managing Director Phillip Britt said he was proud of Aussie’s staff and the award win.

“I am incredibly proud of all of our staff for the amazing work they do; without them this award win wouldn’t be possible. This award is a testament to how we do things at Aussie as an unconventional telco that is out to change the game — be it the telco game or beyond,” Phil said.

The Pause Awards are for innovative businesses that are having a positive impact in society and building a better ecosystem.

Aussie Broadband is involved in several social and environmental projects that are contributing to its success:

  • In May 2021, Aussie Broadband officially joined Pledge 1%, a global movement focusing on businesses giving back to local communities. The company committed to giving up to 1% of time, by offering 3 days of annual paid community service leave to its staff, and 1% of profit through direct and product donations.

  • Aussie became carbon neutral for FY20, offsetting its carbon footprint by investing in both Australian and overseas projects.

  • The company donates its e-waste to Planet Ark.

  • Aussie is an early adopter of Givvable, which allows the company to track its suppliers’ sustainable procurement credentials in real time.

Phil said Aussie Broadband’s values are a fundamental part of the company’s ethos.

“Under our ‘be good to people’ value, Aussie Broadband places strong emphasis on building better communities. We believe this is crucial to inspiring our employees to give back, which allows us to hammer away at our success,” Phil said.

Other notable winners on the night were Ovira, Linktree, Mr Yum and Guzman Gomez. For the full list of winners, head here.
