This article provides the steps required to successfully setup your email account in Mac Mail.

  1. Open the Mail app on your Mac and click on Mail in the menu bar at the top of the screen. Then, click Add Account… from the drop-down menu.

  3. Enter your name (as you wish for it to show when you send out emails), your full email address, and the password for your email address. Then, click Sign In to proceed. An error might appear after this step – continue following this guide if that happens.

  4. On the following page, fill out the fields with your Email address and Password, then tap Manual setup at the bottom of the screen.
Please note: For Aussie Broadband email accounts, the password is set separately from your MyAussie® account. You can reset your email password from MyAussie® if you forgot.

  5. Mail will try to automatically detect the connection details for your @aussiebroadband.com.au (or @aussiebb.com.au) account. If it can’t, an error will appear saying 'Unable to verify account name or password' and prompt you for more information.

If the app shows an error, it will ask for you to enter connection details for the account. Fill out this form as follows:

    • Email Address: (your full email address, such as [email protected])

    • Username: Automatic (if that’s not an option, enter your email address again)

    • Password: (the password for this email address)

    • Account Type: IMAP (read more before choosing POP)

    • Incoming Mail Server: mail.aussiebroadband.com.au

    • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.aussiebroadband.com.au

  6. Once you have filled out all of these fields, click Sign In again and wait for Mail to verify your information and log into the email account.

  7. Once your details are verified by Mail, the following page will ask you to select which apps to sign in to. Ensure the checkbox for Mail is ticked before clicking Done.

If you choose to tick the box for Notes as well, you will be able to sync pages from the Notes app to your Aussie Broadband email account. This will create a new email folder titled ‘Notes’, where data will be stored in your email account.

  8. Once all these steps have been completed, the pop-up window should disappear, and Mail will try to synchronise your emails from the server. If a lot of emails are stored in your account, it may a while to load them all.

And that’s how you log in to your Aussie Broadband email address using the Mail app on a Mac device!
